Finishes / Sheens...

3062 CLEAR, MATT

For an almost completely natural look. Light reflections are diffused.

3065 CLEAR, SEMI-MATT

Optimally balanced variation. Glossy surfaces become duller over time, matt surfaces become glossier. Semi-matt floors stay the way they are.

3032 CLEAR, SATIN

The subtle, noble shimmer resembles satin and emphasises the wood grain modestly.

Rugged London Key Clamps & Tubes
3011 CLEAR, GLOSSY

Looks elegant: light is reflected back and lets the flooring stand out.

Preperation...

It's important that the wood surface is clean and dry before starting (moisture content max. 20%). You should clean or slightly sand old microporous finishes, and remove any old varnishes/lacquers by sanding. Any small cracks, larger dents and small holes in the wood can be filled with the Osmo Woodfiller.

Before application, you should carefully sand your wood, starting with a coarse paper and reducing down to P100-150 for flooring or P180-240 for furniture.

Once complete, ensure you remove any  sawdust thoroughly with a vacuum cleaner from the surface, before application.

How to apply...

1. Apply thinly and evenly along the wood grain with a natural bristle brush or a microfibre roller, and spread well.

2. Allow for good ventilation whilst drying which can take between 8 - 10 hours.

3. Apply a second coat as before. This should be applied onto a clean and dry surface.

The final surface quality is dependent on the wood's surface structure, we therefore always recommend to test the product on a small sample area before complete application.

Useful Tips...

  • star_border Clear oils can darken the appearance of the wood. To retain the light character of oak please use Osmo Polyx®-Oil 3044 Raw.
  • star_border Some woods are highly porous and require an especially thin application, as a result the drying time can be increased.
  • star_border Application of second coat can be done as soon as the first coat has dried. However, it is important to wait approx. 24hrs when applying colour for the first coat, before applying Polyx®-Oil as the top coat. Please note: When applying a white colour as the first coat, we recommend using Polyx®-Oil Tints 3040 White as the top coat to avoid the risk of yellowing.
  • star_border Recommended application is 35ml/m²
  • star_border For exotic hardwood species use Osmo Wood Wax Finish Extra Thin.
  • star_border A base coat of Osmo Wood Protector is recommended for use in bathrooms or kitchens.
  • star_border Multi-purpose cleaners such as washing up liquids and detergents are highly detrimental to the finished surface and is not recommended to be used as discolouration or staining may be possible.
  • star_border Other household cleaning products such as vanish, bleach, baking soda etc. are likely to cause severe discolouration or staining.
  • star_border Be cautious if applying 3062 Clear Matt over a dark coloured surface. The matting agents within 3062 may produce a white mist or powdery effect upon the surface. It is recommended to apply 3065 Semi-Matt if a sheen is not desired. Always trial apply!
