Preperation...

It's important that the wood surface is clean and dry before starting (moisture content max. 20%). You should clean or slightly sand old microporous finishes, and remove any old varnishes/lacquers by sanding. Any small cracks, larger dents and small holes in the wood can be filled with the Osmo Woodfiller.

Before application, you should carefully sand your wood, starting with a coarse paper and reducing down to P100-150 for flooring or P180-240 for furniture.

Once complete, ensure you remove any  sawdust thoroughly with a vacuum cleaner from the surface, before application.

How to apply...

1. Apply thinly and evenly along the wood grain with a natural bristle brush or a microfibre roller, and spread well.

2. Allow for good ventilation whilst drying which can take between 8 - 10 hours.

3. Apply a second coat as before. This should be applied onto a clean and dry surface.

The final surface quality is dependent on the wood's surface structure, we therefore always recommend to test the product on a small sample area before complete application.

Useful Tips...

  • star_borderTwo coats can be applied on wooden furniture, doors and joinery, but only one coat is recommended on wooden flooring - a clear top coat of Osmo Polyx®-Oil is required (approx. 24hrs after the first coat).
  • star_borderRecommended application amount is 30ml/m²
  • star_border3040 White is recommended to be used as a stand-alone finish without a top coat of clear Polyx-Oil. Alternatively 3040 can be used as a top coat after application of Osmo Wood Wax Finish 3111 White, to preserve the desired intensity of white and reduce the effects of yellowing.
  • star_borderA base coat of Osmo Wood Protector is recommended for use in bathrooms or kitchens.
  • star_borderFor exotic hardwood species use Osmo Wood Wax Finish Extra Thin.
  • star_border
  • star_borderOther household cleaning products such as vanish, bleach, baking soda etc. are likely to cause severe discolouration or staining.
  • star_borderBe cautious if applying 3062 Clear Matt over a dark coloured surface such as 3075 Black. The matting agents within 3062 may produce a white mist or powdery effect upon the surface. It is recommended to apply 3065 Semi-Matt if a sheen is not desired. Always trial apply!
